There was an interesting approach to September’s meeting. The wines were chosen on the basis of their unusual labels. This had great results, with wines from Italy, Portugal, Spain, Australia, France and finishing with a Bulgarian brandy.
Featuring everything from a blue butterfly, Portuguese tiles, children playing in the vineyards, Iron Maiden, an elephant in the room, nineteen crimes and rapper Snoop Dogg, the range of unusual labels was amazing.

The label shown is a Clairet the light coloured style of Bordeaux red, from which 'claret' first
took its name.
We had 19 members attending this evening. Prices ranged from 5 euros to 16 pounds per bottle.
A message on one of the labels seemed to sum up our philosophy. It translated as “we never forget that empty glasses are full of memories"
